Somaliland Delegates For London Conference Depart From Addis Ababa

Somaliland Delegates For London Conference Depart From Addis Ababa

Hargeisa- A Delegation from Somaliland who had hoped to attend the London conference on Somalia and the Horn of Africa have departed from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to join the delegation led by Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud  "Siilaanyo" who had already arrived in London.
A group of over thirty four members consisting of party leaders, minister, parliamentarians and other government officials were in Addis Ababa awaiting official permission to attend the meeting. However, a select group have been provided with the necessary documentation to attend the meeting. The are as follows:-

The Somaliland minister of Information, Ahmed Abdi Habsade
The Somaliland minister of Livestock and Range, Abdi Aw Dahir
The former Vice-President of Somaliland and deputy chair of UDUB, Ahmed Yusuf Yasin
The chair of KULMIYE, Muse Bihi Abdi
The chair of UCID, Faisal Ali Warabe
Three members of the Somaliland House of Elders and Representatives, Mahdi Gees, Ali Ibrahim Araye and the venerable Haji Abdi Warabe.
The other members of the group who were unable to attain official designation for the London conference, include the Somaliland ministers of Religious affairs, Khalil Abdillahi, minister of Justice, Hussein Ahmed Aideed, members of the Somaliland chambers of Parliament, Mohamed Ahmed Obsie, Saeed Yasir, Dhugad, the presidential press spokesperson Ukuse, the editor of Haatuf Yusuf Abdi Gabobe, Ali Guray, Mohamed Bar-jeh, and the presidential protocol officer Mohamed Elmi Ilkacase.

However, it is expected that several of the people mentioned above plan to make their own way to London. It is particularly troubling that both the presidential press officer and protocol officer are among those denied officialdesignation for the conference. According to source close the matter, the absence of both Ukuse and Ilkacase appears as intentionally attempt by the hosts tominimise President Siilaanyo's standing among the delegates.
