Turkey calls for urgent OIC meeting on Somalia
 
ISTANBUL, Aug 5 (KUNA) -- Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Friday that Turkey called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to hold an extraordinary meeting on famine in Africa, especially inSomalia.
Speaking to reporters following the weekly Friday prayers, he vowed that his country would do its utmost to help drought-hit Somalia.

Replying to questions regarding the date of his visit to Africa, Davutoglu said that they were making necessary preparations for the visit, stating that there was a scheduled visit to Ethiopia and South Africa. Davutoglu said that they would pay a visit to Africa after August 15 probably on August 20.
Last week, OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu called on OIC member states to coordinate their efforts to help drought-hit Somalia to ease out the sufferings of its people.
