The Details of a letter issued last week by the office of Mr.  Abdi Farah Shirdon the current Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia's, in which he seeks immunity for Gen Mohamed Ali Samatar have emerged.

The contents of the letter clearly show the government of President Hassan Sheik Mahmoud is not committed to reconciliation by denying the atrocities committed by Regime of the late dictator Said Barre 21 years ago against the people of Somaliland by defending a well-known war criminal.

President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud made a commitment to restore faith in governance and the rule of law during a meeting with Secretary of State Clinton in January 2013. Embracing impunity for war criminals is a disappointing beginning," she said in a statement.

This letter calls for Somaliland government to cease and boycott all future engagements with the federal government of Somalia immediately.

Last year, a federal judge in Alexandria awarded seven Somali victims a $21 million judgment against Samantar for orchestrating a campaign of torture and killings against members of the Isaq clan.
